PORTO CESAREO TO HOST SPECTACULAR 2017 SEASON-OPENER OFF GP1, GP2 AND GP3 ACTION

Monday, 30 January: The 2017 UIM-ABP Aquabike World Championship is all set for a spectacular and action-packed season-opener with three days of non-stop racing at the Grand Prix of Italy in Porto Cesareo on 2-4 June.

Aquabike Promotion [ABP] has confirmed a thrilling double-header with Porto Cesareo hosting round 1 of UIM-ABP World Championship for the world’s elite riders in Runabout GP1, Ski GP1 and Freestyle and the one event UIM-ABP World Championship for Runabout GP2 & 3, Ski GP2 & 3 and Ski Junior.

The decision to hold two such prestigious events side-by-side follows the highly successful inaugural world championship for Runabout GP2 & 3, Ski GP2 & 3 and Ski Junior in Denia in Spain last year. “After the success of Denia it was a natural progression to establish an annual world championship for GP2 & GP3 and to extend the opportunity of competing on an international stage to all categories,” said ABP director Raimondo di San Germano.  “We are delighted to be opening the year at a new venue and I would like to extend our thanks to the Federazione Italiana Motonautica [FIM] for their total support and commitment, the Local Organiser Bee Free Srls and to the City of Porto Cesareo.”

ABP will announce further details regarding the season opener in the coming weeks and expect to announce the full 2017 calendar tomorrow.
