H2O RACING SETS ITS SIGHTS ON SPECTACULAR IBIZA FOR 2014

Saturday, 12 October: H2O Racing has its sights firmly fixed on the island of Ibiza, seeing it as the ideal location to bring world class top-flight powerboat racing and water sport events back into the heart of the Mediterranean.

Company president Nicolò di San Germano moved a step closer to taking both the UIM Class 1 World Powerboat Championship and the UIM-ABP Aquabike Class Pro World Championship to the island in 2014, when he joined the Honorable Sr. Vicent Serra, President of the Conseil Insular of Ibiza, Don Abel Matutes Juan, President of the Mesa de Turismo of Spain and Daniel Gomez Korf, President of Ibiza World Championships at a press conference in Ibiza town on Friday.

The world acclaimed tourist destination renowned for its influx of affluent international celebrity-visitors, legendary nightlife and music scene is seen as a prime target which fits perfectly with both the glamour tag of Class 1 and youthful exuberance and energy of Aquabikes. “Our business is entertainment in both the social and sporting arena on and off the water,” said H2O Racing’s Ibiza project manager Casimiro di San Germano. “Ibiza meets both these criteria in terms of the demographics of the tens-of-thousands of visitors to the island and those who follow our sports.

“It is the perfect backdrop for our events, crystal clear waters, long stretches of spectacular beaches and a world class infrastructure of luxury hotels and top class restaurants and entertainment. There are few places where a luxurious and glamorous lifestyle sits so comfortably with the fast-paced, music and nightlife culture that has developed in Ibiza.”

The proposed locations for the event facilities and race courses are Platja d’en Bossa which will provide a natural arena from where tens-of-thousands of spectators will be able to get within metres of the spectacular racing, and Ibiza Marina where the Aquabike Freestylers will be able to entertain with their unique gravity defying aerial acrobatics in the heart of Ibiza town.

H2O Racing’s reputation for promoting and organising world class events has been established over many years, staging events in over 20 countries across 4 continents.

The Water Sports Festival will be Ibiza’s opportunity to become the newest top luxury tourist hub to partner with H2O Racing and join a prestigious list of cities, such as Abu Dhabi, Brasilia, Doha, Kyiv and  Sanya.
