VLADIVOSTOK ADDS ‘LIVE’ 3D INTERACTIVE RACING EXPERIENCE

Monday, 15 July: The organisers of the UIM-ABP Aquabike Rally Jet World Championship have added an exciting new dimension to this year’s Russky Offshore 2013 in Vladivostok, confirming that they will roll-out an innovative 3D interactive application which will totally immerse viewers in this gruelling 1000km event.

For the first time in the fifth staging of the event which runs from 13-17 August viewers will be able to follow the riders from start-to-finish on each of the five stages made up of three 67km circuits around Russky Island.

This latest technology application is the result of the collaboration between H2O Racing, promoter of the Aquabike, Class 1, F1H2O and Nations Cup World Championships and French company Nexxtep who offer solutions for live tracking of outdoor events, using technology developed and supplied by iOpener Media, a world leader in providing real-time data into a wide spectrum of applications.

The move to develop a specific application for Russky Offshore 2013 follows the unqualified success of a similar application unveiled and screened for the first time at last month’s Turkish Grand Prix in Pendik-Istanbul, round 2 of the UIM Class 1 World Powerboat Championship.

The innovative programme which puts viewers at the centre of the action can be viewed and downloaded from the official Championship web site aquabike.net and the official event web site russkyoffshore.com. “It was a logical step to produce a unique application for Russky Offshore following the tremendous interest that a similar application generated in Turkey,” said H2O Racing’s marketing director, Raimondo di San Germano. “It will give viewers the opportunity to follow the riders at every stage in real time and to pick and choose who they follow.”

The multi-faceted application gives viewers full control over timeline, camera views and which rider to follow - ultimately making the viewer the director.

Application users can follow individual riders and will be able to access a wide variety of timing and race information; ‘tv mode’ puts viewers into the best position to follow the race whilst the ‘free view’ option allows viewers to pick any point of view and gives them full control with pan and zoom functions.

The ultimate function ‘bike view’ makes it possible to follow any rider from several different standpoints. Viewers can also follow the race in ‘live mode’ with full control, scrolling back and forth, pausing and choosing any speed with slow motion, real speed or accelerated mode.
