AQUABIKES ADD SPECTACULAR IBIZA TO 2014 CALENDAR

Monday, 19 May: H2O Racing is pleased to announce that round 3 of the UIM-ABP Aquabike Class Pro World Championship will take place in the stunning Spanish Island of Ibiza on 5-7 September.

The agreement was reached following a recent meeting in Ibiza with H2O Racing’s Ibiza Project Manager Casimiro di San Germano, Sport Director Marco Sala, Logistics Director Marco Pietrini and Daniel Gomez Korf, President of Ibiza World Championships. 'It has been a year of intense hard work from both parties which led initially to the confirmation of the Class 1 World Powerboat Championship and now also to the addition of the Aquabike World Championship taking place in Ibiza,' said Casimiro di San Germano. 'The Local Organizer, IWC, and its experienced staff have done an amazing job in preparing for these events. We are very much looking forward to another incredible event where sport, music and glamour come together to provide spectacular racing during the day and entertainment during the evening.'

The news will see the international sporting spotlight fall on this world-acclaimed tourist destination, renowned for its influx of affluent international celebrity-visitors, legendary nightlife and music scene, which can now boast hosting rounds of two of the UIM’s most prestigious World Championships with the world’s elite Aquabike riders sharing centre stage and the water with their sporting cousins at the opening round of the UIM Class 1 World Powerboat Championship.

The expected locations for the event and race circuit are Platja d’en Bossa and Ibiza Marina in the heart of town where the Aquabike Freestylers will entertain with their gravity defying aerial acrobatics.

Islanders and holidaymakers can expect to be treated to feast of spectacular racing during the day as well as during the night, with round 3 of the Runabout and Ski Slalom World Championship taking place under lights and supported by a Freestyle show and upwards of 60 competitors representing 12 countries with World Champions past and present lining up in Runabout GP1, Ski GP1 and Freestyle over the three days.
