KASZA AND PORET POWER TO VICTORY IN SLALOM

Thursday, 5 June, MILAN (Italy): Hungary’s Gyorgy Kasza extended his lead in the Runabout GP1 Slalom World Championship after a closely contested 2 legs to 1 win in the final over France’s Jeremy Perez, with Jeremy Poret making up for the disappointment of his shock heat 1 exit in round 1 in Ski GP1 in Qatar with a convincing win over Italy’s Alberto Monti.

Kasza’s second consecutive win of the season puts him on 50 points and extends his lead to 30 over the men he has beaten in both finals, Francois Medori and Perez, tied on 20.

The Hungarians pace was electrifying winning both heats on the way to the final two-nil, taking out Teddy Pons and then Sebastian Bukiej, but he was pushed all the way in the final winning the deciding leg.

Perez had a tougher route before matching up against Kasza, each heat going the distance, seeing off Poland’s Andrzej Wisniewski and then Sweden’s Lars Sebastien Akerblom, who won the third-fourth placed race off against Bukiej.

Poret’s performance was clinical, easing past Norway’s Stian Schjetlein and then his elder brother and Qatar winner Mickael before completing his unbeaten run in the final against Monti, who earlier had disposed of Nacho Armillas and then Tiago Sousa.

Jeremy Poret’s win moves him up into fourth place in the Championship standings, but it is his bother Mickael who tops the table on 41 points after claiming third today, one point ahead of Monti with Sousa in third in the overall standings.
