PENALTY COSTS PONS FOURTH PLACE

Sunday, 8 June, MILAN (Italy): French rider Teddy Pons will have his work cut out this afternoon if he is to score any substantial points after being given a post-race 2 lap penalty for missing a buoy in heat 1and will start today's heat in 20th place.

Pons started the event in second place in the Championship standings, yesterday’s penalty and non-points finish dropping him to third behind leader Lemoine, who also failed to post points after breaking, and Qatari rider Mohamad Al Heidus.

Two riders who will be determined to make up for yesterday’s disappointments are Lorenzo Benaglia and Thamer Al-Darwish. Both led the race, Bengalia from the start but was hampered from lap 3 by a mechanical issue, Al Darwish literally knocked off the lead after being hit by another bike, but recovered to score points finishing in ninth, Benaglia not so fortunate ending the day down in 21st spot.
