PEREZ, SOUSA, MENARD AND 'THE ROK' ON TOP OF THE WORLD

Thursday, 26 June: Team Perez duo Jeremy Perez and Tiago Sousa are part of an illustrious quartet of riders along with Jennifer Menard and Rok Florjancic who top the mid-year UIM-ABP World Rankings in their respective categories, Runabout, Ski and Freestyle.

Perez, 27, from Lambesc in France, who topped the Runabout GP1 rankings at the end of last year, is enjoying his best season on the UIM-ABP tour and having a stellar run, recovering from a shaky start in Qatar finishing 12th overall but hitting back in Italy to complete the win-double and take his first GP title to take the lead in the race for the World Championship and catapulting him to the top of the World Rankings, 19 points clear of countryman Teddy Pons with Qatar’s Mohamed Al Heidus in third spot.

Portugal’s Tiago Sousa heads up Ski GP1 and is proving to be one of the most consistent riders on the UIM-ABP tour, finishing second overall in Qatar and third in Italy. Italy’s Alberto Monti sits in second spot with World Championship leader, France’s Jeremy Poret in third.

Slovenian bothers Rok and Nac Florjancic maintain their stranglehold in Freestyle sitting in first and second spots in both the World Rankings and World Championship, with Italy’s Valerio Calderoni third.

In Ski Ladies it is France’s double Grand Prix winner and World Championship leader Jennifer Menard who leads the World Rankings from Italy’s Marta Sorrentino and Estelle Poret.

The prestigious UIM-ABP World Rankings, issued bi-monthly, is the addition of all points allocated to a Rider for overall event results, from 1 January to 31 December, for all competitions sanctioned by the UIM and proceeding according to UIM Aquabike rules.

Depending on the qualification of the competition a number of points are awarded based on the final ranking. A rider who participates in several categories in a competition can accumulate points in each category, with 20% of this score carried over from the previous season.
