PEREZ CLIMBS OUT OF BED TO TAKE POLE

Saturday, 20 June, ROSES, GIRONA (Spain): Despite being confined to bed under doctor’s orders for the last two days, France’s Jeremy Perez  needed just two laps to secure pole position in Runabout GP1.

The current World Rankings leader had no alternative other than to post a time in qualifying in order to be eligible to race in heat 1 if he feels well enough, and despite no practice time on the water in Roses, the 27-year-old showed that in spite of being far from 100% he still has enough in the tank to pose a real challenge to his rivals, his time of 1:25.986 four seconds quickest than Jordi Thomas, the sole Spanish representative, who gave the locals something to cheer going second quickest ahead of Didier Chabert.
