CAGNARD LIFTS RUNABOUT GP4 WORLD TITLE

Sunday, 4 June, PORTO CESAREO (Italy): Sweden’s Christian Cagnard won the winner take all fight with Hungary’s Oliver Gerenscer for the Runabout GP4 World Championship after finishing in second place but importantly ahead of his rival in the final Moto at the UIM-ABP Aquabike Grand Prix of Italy.

 

Cagnard and Gerencser started the final day tied on 45 points with a win apiece and it was Cagnard who grabbed the early advantage.

 

The Swede led for four laps before being passed by Spain’s Toni Vingut and the fight for the title developed with Gerenscer in third and pressing. But an error by the Hungarian dropped him to fourth behind Spain’s Jordi Tomas, to take the runners-up slot.

 

The win for Vingut jumped the Spaniard up the rankings and onto the final step of the podium.
