Moto 3 victory gives Leinsalu Runabout GP4 Juniors GP win and European title
Victory in the third of the Runabout GP4 Junior Motos provided Estonian racer Reinhard Leinsalu with a double success at the Grand Prix of France. The Seadoo rider managed to stay ahead of his four rivals to record a 2.44-second win over Ayrton Cecere and that was sufficient to wrap up the Grand Prix win over the Italian by nine points and beat Aurora Filiberti to the European Championship title by 16 points.
Francesco Bassenghi finished third in the final Moto, ahead of Filiberti and Katarina Sepp, and that earned the Italian the final step on the Grand Prix podium. Cecere finished third in the European Championship with Sepp ending the season in fourth ahead of the absent Adas Zalagaitis.
Meziere confirms Grand Prix title with third Moto success
Mathys Meziere wrapped up a memorable European Ski Division GP4 season with yet another Moto win on Sunday morning. The Frenchman had already confirmed the provisional title on Saturday but secured a comfortable 54.30-second victory over Grantas Gurkšnys in Moto 3.
Lionel Bourrel finished on the bottom step of the podium in the final Moto, ahead of Daniils Potrivailo, Lucas Mouchotte and the solitary Ski Division GP4 Junior Francesco Mariani. Jennifer Poret was docked 25 seconds for a jump start and was not classified among the finishers.
The Moto 3 win confirmed that Meziere also won the Grand Prix with a clean sweep of wins and a maximum 75 points. Gurkšnys took the silver medal and Potrivailo had to settle for third.
Meziere finished the European Championship season 54 points clear of runner-up Potrivailo, who managed to edge out Gurkšnys for the runner-up spot on a tie-breaker. Mouchotte wrapped up the season in fourth.
Mariani opens his account with victory in Freestyle Moto 1
Roberto Mariani took advantage of his pole position to earn victory in the opening Freestyle Moto on Saturday evening. The Italian scored 158 points on the judges’ cards to comfortably get the better of fellow countryman Massimo Accumolo and Portugal’s Paulo Nuñes.
Mariani’s fifth Moto win from six European starts this season means he heads into the final Moto of the European season with a 22-point lead over his closest rival and will be assured of retaining his European title once he takes to the water.
